SAS Plans Major European Expansion With 9 New Destinations

Aviation News International – Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is gearing up for a bumper summer season, with flights to more than 130 destinations in over 40 countries. The Star Alliance member airline will launch nine new routes this summer – five from its main hub in Copenhagen (CPH), two from Oslo (OSL), and one from Bergen (BGO). The routes are a mixture of leisure destinations and business routes, offering increased connectivity across the airline’s existing route network.

The airline’s Chief Revenue Officer, Erik Westman, celebrated the launch of the new routes and highlighted the existing routes that will also see a boost in frequency, saying,

Increased focus on domestic flying

SAS is also increasing the frequency of its domestic flights. For example, additional flights have been scheduled throughout the summer from Stockholm (ARN) to Visby (VBY), Kiruna (KRN), Skellefteå (SFT), and Östersund (OSD).

From Copenhagen, SAS will operate up to seven daily flights to Bergen, while Oslo will see up to two daily services to Aalborg (AAL) and four weekly flights to Billund (BLL).

Long-haul expansion

It is not only SAS’s European network that is getting a boost this summer – the carrier is also embarking on some long-haul expansion. Among the North American service increases are:
