Several international carriers are poised to resume flights to Cuba, marking a significant step forward for the island’s tourism industry.
The announcement came during the 42nd International Tourism Fair, where Gihana Galindo, Director of Tourism Marketing, outlined the details.
China Airlines leads the way
China Airlines will resume its Beijing-Madrid-Havana route starting May 17, rekindling connections between these key destinations.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline had linked Beijing, Montreal, and Havana.
This resumption symbolizes a broader renewal in global travel, providing a bridge for international tourism to Cuba.
Expanding European connections
European airlines are also reinforcing their commitment to Cuba, with four weekly flights from Portugal giving tourists a chance to explore the island.
Two flights will land at the Varadero tourist hub, while the others will connect to Santa Clara and the Jardines del Rey keys off Cuba’s northern coast.
A new airline will operate flights between Spain and Santa Clara, along with new flights from Madrid.
Czech and Slovak carriers will also reopen routes, connecting Prague to Holguin and Santa Clara, and Bratislava to Holguin.
Broader reach across the globe
Currently, Cuba receives flights from 54 countries. With 150 weekly flights from Canada and Spain alone, the nation’s tourism sector is gearing up to expand even further.
Efforts are ongoing to attract new carriers, as international airlines recognize Cuba’s growing appeal to travelers seeking a vibrant cultural experience.
