Aviation news international- Based on data from RadarBox.com, in the last few moments, a LATAM flight from Sao Paulo has squawked the hijack 7500 code.
At this time, it cannot be confirmed whether the aircraft is indeed in a hijacking situation, or whether there is faulty data being transmitted via ADS-B.
The flight in question is LA8016, which is being operated by PT-XPG, an Airbus A321 within the LATAM flight between Sao Paulo and Montevideo.
As per Planespotters.net, PT-XPG is a 8-year-old Airbus A321-211, that was originally delivered to TAM, pre-LATAM merger back in July 2015.
At the time of writing, the aircraft hasn’t made any manoeuvres to return to the Brazilian destination, or to a nearby alternate field.
AviationSource will approach LATAM for a comment in the meantime, whilst this is taking place.
