New Stellar Aviation Facility at Reno-Tahoe International Airport

Aviation News –

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority is celebrating the opening of Stellar Aviation’s new building on the corner of Rock Boulevard and Mill Street.

Stellar Aviation has been working for five years to make this facility a reality.

They have a multitude of facilities around the United States, but they’re newly expanding to the West Coast.

They have facilities in the Midwest and south Florida but this is their first expansion to the western U.S. including a new facility in Carson City, and they plan to open two more on this side of the country.

They hope the new building will help enhance aviation services in our area.

“We’re so excited to open this up and when we talk about the people that we serve, there was not the infrastructure to service a lot of the aircraft necessary as the area has expanded,” said Brad Kost, the COO of Stellar Aviation Group. “As more people moved into the area more businesses have moved into the area. It’s become a little more industrial more tech we have this facility behind me to have their airplanes here and service their mission.”

“We have over 50 employees in the area here,” he added. “This facility itself created 50 high paying jobs in the area and has a significant economic impact here because this is the first facility people see when they come in and out.”

They also told us they provide fuel and support services for the military.

“One of the most important things we do here for the community is medevac hospital systems, law enforcement, and to serve the military,” he said. “So it’s big for us to serve that aspect of it and with these new facilities and large apron and new terminal building this is dedicated to them.”

To create the space it was a $14 million dollar private investment. That investment built a 5,000 square foot terminal building to serve the public, in addition to the 30,000 square foot hangar, 8,000 square foot office space and five and a half acres of asphalt and tarmac to make up the entire facility.

“One of the things that attracted our business to this area was the forward-thinking board of trustees and the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority because we need a safe place to conduct business with those who are pro-business and they want to grow this area, and now with the influx of people and population base and businesses coming in here the airport is growing to meet those challenges and me that growth,” he said.
