Norwegian Group carries 2.8 million passengers in September

AVIATION NEWS- Norwegian Group carried 2.8 million passengers in September 2026, comprising 2.4 million with Norwegian and 394,000 with Widerøe. Norwegian’s load factor rose by 0.6 percentage points to 87.1%, as passenger traffic grew faster than capacity.
Norwegian increased capacity by 6% year-on-year, while traffic rose by 7%. The airline operated an average of 94 aircraft, completed 99.4% of scheduled flights and recorded departure punctuality of 84.3%. On 30 September, it received two Boeing 737 MAX 8s, marking its 200th and 201st aircraft deliveries.
Widerøe increased capacity by 3% and traffic by 1%, with its load factor falling by 1.6 percentage points to 71.8%. Punctuality reached 94.5%, while regularity stood at 98.2%.
Chief executive Geir Karlsen reported strong demand for Nordic autumn holidays and encouraging winter bookings, including sunny destinations, European city breaks and inbound tourism to northern Scandinavia. He said higher fuel prices remained a challenge, managed through seasonal capacity adjustments and fuel hedging.
