{"id":10264,"date":"2023-11-20T06:46:23","date_gmt":"2023-11-20T06:46:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aviation-news.info\/?p=10264"},"modified":"2023-11-20T06:46:23","modified_gmt":"2023-11-20T06:46:23","slug":"the-snowbirds-return-to-salinas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviation-news.info\/?p=10264","title":{"rendered":"The Snowbirds return to Salinas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Air aviation news -The last event for the Northern California air show season takes place at Salinas Municipal Airport (<a href=\"https:\/\/skyvector.com\/airport\/KSNS\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#skyvector\">KSNS<\/a>) at the end of September each fall.<\/p>\n<p>After 42 years and $8 million in local donations, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/salinasairshow.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/salinasairshow.com\/\">California International Airshow Salinas<\/a>\u00a0is one of the most successful air shows to support charitable organizations in North America.<\/p>\n<p>For 2023, organizers overhauled the flightline, moving some folks 1,500 feet closer to the air show box. I\u2019m fairly sure the 50,000 fans attending the show appreciated the changes.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7085492 entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/generalaviationnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2023_Salinas_Tam-20.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/generalaviationnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2023_Salinas_Tam-20.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Best seat in the house: These Kentucky Air Guard service members relax on their C-130J Super Hercules.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Of all the shows I attend each year, this is the only one with \u201cinternational\u201d in the title. The international aspect was marked by the return of the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds demonstration team after a 12-year absence. This was also one of only two performances in the U.S. this year by the Canadians.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7085487 entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/generalaviationnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2023_Salinas_Tam-19.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/generalaviationnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/2023_Salinas_Tam-19.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Snowbirds coming over the top in the \u201cBig Diamond\u201d formation (one jet was broken, hence the asymmetry).
