Air aviation news – AJet Air Transportation, the rebranded AnadoluJet<\/a>\u00a0(TK,\u00a0Ankara Esenboga<\/a>), will launch as a standalone carrier at the end of March 2024. The low-cost carrier will remain a wholly-owned subsidiary of\u00a0Turkish Airlines<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Turkish flag carrier unveiled the future branding of the new unit during an event on November 24. The first\u00a0A321-200NX<\/a>, TC-LUC (msn 10275), has already been repainted into the new livery, although it has yet to re-enter revenue service.<\/p>\n

“The efforts and dedication we have put in for a long time have paid off, and we will introduce AJet to the skies with the summer schedule at the end of March 2024. We fully believe that AJet, with its new name, will become an important part of the low-cost aviation industry on a global scale,” said Turkish Airlines’ chairman of the board and executive committee, Ahmet Bolat.<\/p>\n

The launch as a standalone carrier with\u00a0its own Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC)<\/a>\u00a0will not affect the carrier’s current network. It will remain based out of\u00a0Istanbul Sabiha G\u00f6kcen<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ankara Esenboga<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Currently, AnadoluJet operates as a division of Turkish Airlines, using the AOC and code of its parent. Its fleet comprises nine\u00a0A320-200N<\/a>s, fourteen A321-200NX, seven\u00a0B737-8<\/a>s, and forty-six\u00a0B737-800<\/a>s. The carrier also wet-leases additional\u00a0A320-200<\/a>s,\u00a0A321-200<\/a>s, and B737-8s from\u00a0SmartLynx Airlines<\/a>\/SmartLynx Airlines Malta<\/a>. The group\u00a0plans to increase<\/a>\u00a0AJet’s fleet to around 200 aircraft in the next decade.<\/p>\n
