Indians are historically known to start saving as soon as they are employed and have been conservative with their travel spends. These findings highlight how the youth,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/skift.com\/2024\/01\/09\/is-the-world-ready-to-meet-the-indian-middle-class-megatrends-2024\/#:~:text=Skift%20Take&amp;text=The%20real%20driver%20of%20growth,represents%2031%25%20of%20India's%20population.\">especially the growing middle class<\/a>, is changing the tourism landscape in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Indian youth is, therefore, also becoming\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/travtalkindia.com\/young-india-to-shape-travel-experiences\/\">the segment that tourism players are aiming to cater and market themselves to<\/a>, be it\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/companies\/news\/minor-hotels-expands-footprint-in-india-with-new-hotel-project-in-jaipur-eyes-further-expansion-in-mumbai-delhi-bengaluru-chennai-and-goa-11682529274574.html\">hotels<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbctv18.com\/business\/exclusive-india-is-a-hot-market-will-tap-on-the-youth-bookingcom-apac-vp-18103911.htm\">travel agencies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Knowing the young Indian travelers:\u00a0<\/strong>Budget is one of the most important considerations for young travelers, along with safety concerns. Coming into effect from May 23, the agreement will enhance the flight options for travelers between India and Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the agreement would be applicable on flights between Tokyo Haneda and Tokyo Narita in Japan and Delhi and Mumbai in India. The two airlines are considering expanding their agreement to additional routes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis agreement will contribute to further consolidate the economic and commercial relations between India and Japan and will offer Indian tourists the opportunity to discover Japan and to Japanese citizens the opportunity to easily travel to India,\u201d Air India said in a statement.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-domestic-air-traffic-touches-new-single-day-high\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Domestic Air Traffic Touches New Single-Day High<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The domestic air traffic reached 471,751 passengers on Sunday, making it the new single-day high,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MoCA_GoI\/status\/1782703616685731844?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet\">the Indian civil aviation ministry shared<\/a>. This figure was 14% higher than the average pre-Covid count of nearly 399,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDomestic aviation in India is witnessing unprecedented growth, driven by factors such as concrete policies, economic development, and expansion of low-cost carriers. As more people gain access to air travel, the sector is expected to continue its upward trajectory,\u201d the ministry said.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-sustainable-travel-important-to-95-indian-travelers\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sustainable Travel Important to 95% Indian Travelers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>As many as 95% of Indian travelers have said that sustainable travel is important to them, said online travel company Booking.com in its Sustainable Travel Report 2024. Despite that, it said that nearly one-fourth (24%) of Indians feel traveling more sustainably is important, but not a primary consideration when planning or booking a trip.<\/p>\n<p>The company further revealed that 93% Indians have said that they want to travel more sustainably over the next 12 months. \u201cWhile 42% of Indian travelers think they can have a positive influence on the social impacts of travel, an equal number of travelers think the government holds the most potential for countering the economic efforts,\u201d the agency said in a statement.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-uttarakhand-begins-process-to-make-dehradun-airport-international\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Uttarakhand Begins Process to Make Dehradun Airport International<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Uttarakhand government has started the process to make Dehradun\u2019s Jolly Grant Airport an international airport. The government has invited airlines to submit a proposal for operating discounted direct flights between Dehradun and Kathmandu in Nepal,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/travel.economictimes.indiatimes.com\/news\/aviation\/domestic\/uttarakhand-starts-work-to-make-dehradun-international-airport-starting-with-kathmandu-flights\/109493137?utm_source=latest_news&amp;utm_medium=homepage\">according to an Economic Times report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The move is also being backed by the government of India in order to boost the country as an international destination. While\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/skift.com\/2024\/04\/15\/indias-2023-24-domestic-air-passenger-traffic-surpassed-pre-covid-levels-india-report\/\">India\u2019s domestic air traffic levels have surpassed pre-Covid figures<\/a>, the foreign tourist arrivals in India have not yet recovered to pre-Covid levels. Key stakeholders are working on ways to bring up the number of international tourists through increased direct international connectivity, ease of visas, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.india.gov.in\/spotlight\/swadesh-darshan\">tourism circuits<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-uncertainty-around-india-s-airline-consolidation-phase\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Uncertainty Around India\u2019s Airline Consolidation Phase<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There is uncertainty around the extent and timing of the consolidation of Indian airlines,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/centreforaviation.com\/analysis\/reports\/uncertainty-still-surrounds-the-extent-and-timing-of-indias-airline-consolidation-phase-681674\">said an analyst from CAPA \u2013 Centre for Aviation<\/a>.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>It added that while planned mergers and financial and legal troubles surround some airlines, the process is taking longer than the expected one or two years.<\/p>\n<p>The Tata Group is in the process of merging full-service carriers Air India and Vistara, which the aviation market intelligence firm believes is generally on track. On the other hand, GoFirst, Jet Airways, and SpiceJet have been facing issues. It is still unknown whether GoFirst and Jet Airways will revive, while SpiceJet has been raising funds and reaching agreements with several creditors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo although there will be fewer airlines in the domestic market \u2013 the timing and extent of consolidation in India remains a shifting target.
