The company&#8217;s operation, which provides ground handling, cargo, travel, and flight catering services at Dubai International (DXB) airport, was affected by unstable weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p>However, there was no damage to the company\u2019s infrastructure during the record rains in mid-April, Steve Allen, CEO of Dnata Group, said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><mark id=\"mark-b8d89ce558094ebb28c86e39e3cc76f7\">Stay up to date with the latest news.\u00a0<a id=\"link-90683e5bc53db9d4018f871dabfafff3\" href=\"https:\/\/whatsapp.com\/channel\/0029Va5dROu3bbUxk7Jh2503\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels.<\/a><\/mark><\/p>\n<p>The UAE recorded the highest rains in 75 years, disrupting flight operations and cancelling more than 2,000 flights due to the flooding of Dubai International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe heavy rains impacted the operations significantly on the day of the storm because everybody that works at DXB lives in Dubai, so their ability to get to work was impacted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a very extreme situation, but we recovered incredibly fast as an aviation community, and within days, things were back to normal and up and running quickly,\u201d Allen said during a media briefing on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinancial impact was not too significant. Of course, there were fewer flights taking off and landing, so we lost a bit of revenue from that, but all of the equipment was recoverable, and there was no damage to our infrastructure,\u201d the\u00a0dnata\u00a0Group chief executive said.<\/p>\n<p>Dnata\u00a0is the subsidiary of Emirates Group, which announced record profits on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, said that the unprecedented rains recorded in UAE last month cost the Emirates airline \u201ca lot\u201d and \u201chit hard\u201d on baggage handling operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt (rains) cost us a lot at the end of the day. To see 200 millimetres of rain was really\u00a0tough. We were used to disturbances across the globe in the US, Europe, and\u00a0Australia, and we managed because they were in different hub areas. When it is your hub area here in Dubai, to see aircraft coming back and not leaving with limited gates and parking (was a challenge) because aircraft usually come in and go. So we have had much less gate and parking,\u201d he said during a media briefing on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market.<\/p>\n<p>A record-breaking rainstorm in April was by far the \u201cmost disruptive weather event\u201d in the 63-year history of Dubai International (DXB) airport, with 2,155 flights cancelled, making it the highest number of cancellations yet, Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths told Khaleej Times in an earlier interview.<\/p>\n<p>Dnata increased its profit\u00a0by 330 per cent to Dh1.4 billion in 2023-24.
