The fund is part of the government\u2019s overall investment of $400 million in 2023 to support eligible communities in their critical infrastructure needs, including road, bridge, water, and wastewater projects.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p class=\"article-p___34jbX\" data-lpos=\"article|body\">\u201cI am pleased that the Town of Aurora is receiving this funding from the OCIF to assist with critical infrastructure needs that will benefit the citizens of our community,\u201d said Michael Parsa, MPP of Aurora\u2014Oak Ridges\u2014Richmond Hill.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p class=\"article-p___34jbX\" data-lpos=\"article|body\">\u201cAs an MPP and resident of Aurora, I am proud of our government&#8217;s investment that will support economic growth and job creation in the Town of Aurora,\u201d said Dawn Gallagher Murphy, MPP Newmarket-Aurora. &#8220;(This funding) is essential to the growth and prosperity of both the Town of Aurora and the Province of Ontario.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"inline-element-responsive___6OVyX\">\n<div id=\"bigbox-2\" class=\"adSlot___3IQ8M\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\" data-lpos=\"gamp\" data-testid=\"container\" data-google-query-id=\"CMH38rXvqPwCFUhIHQkdDYUPWQ\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_58580620\/York_Region\/news_2__container__\">As the OCIF must be applied to approved capital work, the town will wait for final council approval of its proposed 2023 capital plan prior to assigning the funding toward planned capital work(s), according to a statement from the town\u2019s finance department.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"article-p___34jbX\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-lpos=\"article|body\">\u201cThe town\u2019s annual OCIF allocation enables it to complete more of its very necessary infrastructure renewal work than it otherwise could have without these funds being available. This funding helps to alleviate an equivalent funding pressure on the town\u2019s tax and water rate payers, which has continued grow as the town\u2019s infrastructure ages.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p class=\"article-p___34jbX\" data-lpos=\"article|body\">The 2022 OCIF allocation specifically provided the town with an additional $2,697,900 in required road reconstruction, repair and preventive maintenance work totalling $2,147,900, and a further $600,000 in storm pond restoration and wastewater work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"article-p___34jbX\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-lpos=\"article|body\">\u201cOntario\u2019s small, rural and northern communities, like Aurora are essential to the growth and prosperity of the province,\u201d said Kinga Surma, minister of infrastructure. \u201cOur government is continuing to provide stable funding to meet local infrastructure needs and provide support in response to pressures from inflation.
