Most flight connections at Munich Airport are set to be canceled on Thursday and Friday due to a strike by airport workers, the airport announced on Tuesday.
\nAirport authorities said the airlines operating at the airport are likely to cancel most of the estimated 1,600 flight connections planned for the two days.
\nPassengers have been advised to contact their airlines for more specific information on flights.
\nThe warning strike will start on Thursday at midnight and will last 48 hours until midnight Friday.
\nMunich Airport is one of Germany’s busiest transport hubs, mostly for German flagship airline Lufthansa.
\nWhy are workers striking?
\nEarlier in the week, trade union Verdi also called for workers to lay down tools at Cologne\/Bonn and D\u00fcsseldorf airports.
\nThe strike comes as Verdi demands improved working conditions for workers in Germany’s public sector, both on the local and national level.
\nDemands include an 8% increase in pay, as well as three extra paid holiday days.
