Ryanair<\/a>\u00a0(FR,\u00a0Dublin International<\/a>) has welcomed a proposal by Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner to relax a night flight ban at\u00a0Berlin Brandenburg<\/a>\u00a0and has called for more flexibility during unforeseen events like weather delays.<\/p>\n

The airline in a statement reacted to comments made by Wegner at the ITB Berlin 2025 tourism trade fair when he said it was “neither in the interest of the environment nor of passengers if planes have to fly long detours because of a delay of just a few minutes”.<\/p>\n

Ryanair said it was not calling for the lifting of the ban but urged for more flexibility to prevent unnecessary diversions, such as flights to Berlin being rerouted to\u00a0Hannover<\/a>\u00a0just minutes before the curfew starts. The budget carrier called on Germany’s transport minister, Volker Wissing, to listen to Wegner and instruct the Berlin-Brandenburg Aviation Authority (Luftfahrtbeh\u00f6rde Berlin-Brandenburg – LuBB) “to end these unnecessary disruptions caused by Berlin Airport’s unreasonably strict curfew”.<\/p>\n

With certain exceptions to the rule, the Berlin curfew prohibits flights from arriving or departing between 2330L (2220Z) and 0530L (0430Z) to minimise disruptions to nearby residents while still accommodating some essential flights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
