There was also a Japan Airlines plane that\u00a0<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/seattle-airport-plane-f35b1d7198e4a65247aae5313edb5943\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">clipped a parked Delta plane<\/a><\/span>\u00a0while it was taxiing at the Seattle airport earlier this week and a United Airlines plane\u00a0<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/houston-airport-united-airlines-airplane-fire-fdc815c41ce744b674fd595ef551b507\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">caught fire<\/a><\/span>\u00a0during takeoff at the Houston airport Sunday after an engine problem sparked a fire on the wing.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not even to mention the\u00a0<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/aviation-security-stowaways-wheel-well-jetblue-c4076d366d6209bf918c2cd643e952b3\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">security concerns<\/a><\/span>\u00a0that arose after stowaways were found dead inside the\u00a0<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/jetblue-aircraft-bodies-florida-67485cd731e0933011b61cda112c6f38\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">wheel wells<\/a><\/span>\u00a0of two planes and aboard two other flights. And don\u2019t forget about the time that a passenger\u00a0<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/airplane-passenger-opens-door-jetblue-boston-4884322a676055d0ab5d858e7d33b4b1\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">opened an emergency exit door<\/a><\/span>\u00a0on a plane while it was taxiing for takeoff in Boston.<\/p>\n<p>So of course people are wondering whether their\u00a0<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/aviation-safety-boeing-airlines-faa-068547c51c1b477a4d4972af95c7e8ff\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">flight is safe<\/a><\/span>?<\/p>\n<h2>What happened in the worst incidents?<\/h2>\n<p>The Jan. 29 collision between an American Airlines passenger jet and an Army helicopter killed everyone aboard both aircraft. It was the\u00a0<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/aircraft-crashes-history-washington-ee55776ea0c5f9e322fc77ea1ea452d1\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">deadliest plane crash in the U.S.<\/a><\/span>\u00a0since Nov. 12, 2001, when a jet slammed into a New York City neighborhood just after takeoff, killing all 260 people on board and five on the ground. There hadn\u2019t even been a deadly crash of any kind involving a U.S. airliner since February 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Crashes are more common involving smaller planes like the single-engine Cessna that went missing in Alaska on Thursday with 10 people aboard. Crews were searching for that plane Friday.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/philadelphia-pa-plane-crash-incident-9f5cfa83125137bf523558cc3738a370\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">medical transportation plane crashed<\/a><\/span>\u00a0in Philadelphia on Jan. 31, killing the six people onboard and another person on the ground.
