Airbus SE delivered around 55 jets to customers in April, a drop-off from the previous month as the planemaker struggles with a shortage of engines on its popular A320neo model, according to people familiar with the matter.
\nThe European planemaker suffered a drop in handovers because it was forced to build some so-called gliders, an industry term for aircraft without engines, said the people, asking not to be identified discussing confidential information.
\nAirbus declined to comment on April handovers ahead of official publication of the figures later this week.
\nAirbus has experienced difficulty getting engines for narrowbody planes from CFM International, a joint venture of General Electric Co and Safran SA. The planemaker said last month that it expects output to be weaker in the first half of 2025 as it builds planes that don\u2019t yet have engines and therefore can\u2019t be handed over.
