{"id":2620,"date":"2023-02-13T12:23:24","date_gmt":"2023-02-13T12:23:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aviation-news.info\/?p=2620"},"modified":"2023-02-13T12:23:24","modified_gmt":"2023-02-13T12:23:24","slug":"flying-start-for-next-generation-of-loganair-aviation-engineers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviation-news.info\/?p=2620","title":{"rendered":"Flying start for next generation of Loganair aviation engineers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Trained on arguably the most diverse fleet of any commercial airline, six mechanical engineers have graduated following a four-year modern apprenticeship with regional airline Loganair \u2013 and will now become full-time members of staff.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Loganair Modern Apprentice programme on Aircraft Maintenance (SCQF Level 6) is a structured programme which allows apprentices to receive a salary while studying and undertaking on-the-job training.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On completion, each apprentice obtains a UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Part 66 aircraft maintenance licence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Loganair engineers provide a range of quality maintenance services to support the airline\u2019s fleet, which sees 42 aircraft operate across 70 routes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This means trainees develop experience with smaller planes, including a DHC6 Twin Otter, and BN2 Islander as well as mid-size and larger aircraft, including ATR 42s and 72s, Saab 340s and Embraer 135s and 145s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Aside from the technical skills gained, Loganair\u2019s modern apprentices also build on their core skill competencies with oversight from the training department and local workplace mentors.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.grampianonline.co.uk\/_media\/img\/750x0\/GXU7YV8RP1NIPZGEXED7.jpg\" alt=\"A graduation ceremony was held at Loganair's headquarters for the new engineers.\" data-root=\"\/_media\/img\/\" data-path=\"GXU7YV8RP1NIPZGEXED7.jpg\" data-ar=\"1.33\" data-loaded=\"y\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><figcaption>A graduation ceremony was held at Loganair&#8217;s headquarters for the new engineers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Valuable transferable skills such as a practical understanding of health and safety, time management and career development paths also supplement the vocational and academic elements of the programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Among the latest graduates is Matthew O\u2019Donnell (21) from Glasgow, who is thought to be the first in Scotland to complete the new modern apprenticeship pathway at Loganair, Pathway F.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Matthew said: \u201cThe apprenticeship has been challenging but such a great experience with exposure to five different types of aircraft.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Trained on arguably the most diverse fleet of any commercial airline, six mechanical engineers have graduated following a four-year modern apprenticeship with regional airline Loganair \u2013 and will now become full-time members of staff.
