United Airlines\u00a0(UAL) is doubling down on daily connections between\u00a0Newark, New Jersey (EWR)\u00a0\u2013 an airport just outside New York City – and\u00a0Naples in Italy (NAP). The airline intends to have seasonal flights between June 23 and September 7 using\u00a0Boeing 767-300ER\u00a0with a ‘high J’ configuration (more business class seats). The aircraft has a total capacity of 167 seats – 46 Polaris, 22 Premium Plus, 43 Economy Plus and 56 Economy.<\/p>\n

The new routes<\/h2>\n

According to aviacionline.com, United Airlines will offer 5,334 seats on the route weekly. Furthermore, the news outlet obtained a quote from Walter Cianciusi, country sales manager for United Airlines in Italy, saying this is a response to,<\/p>\n

\u201c…the very high demand that we have registered from the United States. In fact, a single flight is not capable of withstanding the impact of requests. So, of course, it will also ensure greater choice and options for Italian passengers heading to the United States.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As such, United Airlines is adding a second round-trip set of flights.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also worth noting that United Airlines only resumed direct flights from the United States to Naples on April 30, 2022, after a three-year pause. At the time,\u00a0United\u2019s Thorsten Lettnin, the airline\u2019s director of Sales in Continental Europe, commented,<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of work has gone into this\u2026we have high confidence that this route will be a huge success for business people, for the US community here, it\u2019ll be a huge success for tourism, and the Americans – for all the right reasons – love this part of the world<\/em>\u2026It\u2019s an investment from our side – we have all the confidence that expectations will be met. \u2026\u00a0Newark, is, for United Airlines, a big hub in the United States, and this flight\u2026has connectivity to 70 destinations in the United States and South America.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
