Air Peace\u00a0(P4,\u00a0Lagos) is in talks with\u00a0Boeing\u00a0over a potential B787 order, according to Chief Executive Officer Allen Onyema.<\/p>\n
Responding to a question on the carrier’s fleet plans during a SkyConnect Leadership Dialogue webcast hosted by the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) on February 13, 2023, Onyema said: “We have our B777s, and we are also discussing with Boeing for the Dreamliner, which I feel will come very soon”. He did not elaborate.<\/p>\n
Asked for comment, Boeing deferred to Air Peace. “We generally don\u2019t comment on negotiations,” a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
This comes after Boeing shares fell nearly 5% at the end of February on the news that the manufacturer was\u00a0halting B787 deliveries\u00a0over documentation issues related to a fuselage component. Deliveries will be delayed pending US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval. It also comes as the first two commercial B787 are being retired and dismantled for spare parts by Irish asset management and trading company EirTrade Aviation.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Onyema said the privately-owned carrier was awaiting the delivery of a firm order of fifteen\u00a0B737 MAX, including seven\u00a0B737-8s and eight\u00a0B737-10s, all “paid for”. According to the latest\u00a0Embraer\u00a0order book, Air Peace also has an outstanding order of eight\u00a0E195-E2s out of a total order of thirteen, with five of the type already delivered.<\/p>\n
The rest of the fleet of 37 aircraft comprises three B777s (one\u00a0B777-200(ER)s and two\u00a0B777-300s); eight\u00a0A320-200s wet-leased from\u00a0SmartLynx Airlines\u00a0(6Y,\u00a0Riga); six\u00a0B737-300s; one\u00a0B737-400(SF)\u00a0wet-leased from\u00a0Airwork Flight Operations\u00a0(PST,\u00a0Auckland International); five\u00a0B737-500s; one\u00a0Do328-300; five\u00a0EMB-145LRs and three -MPs, according to\u00a0ch-aviation fleets advanced\u00a0data.<\/p>\n
Air Peace intends to commence its ninth international route to\u00a0Mumbai International\u00a0on March 31, 2023, according to an announcement on social media. The airline already serves\u00a0Dubai International\u00a0(UAE),\u00a0Johannesburg O.R. Tambo\u00a0(South Africa),\u00a0Accra\u00a0(Ghana),\u00a0Banjul\u00a0(Gambia),\u00a0Dakar Blaise Diagne International\u00a0(Senegal),\u00a0Douala\u00a0(Cameroon),\u00a0Freetown\u00a0(Sierra Leone), and\u00a0Monrovia Roberts\u00a0(Liberia).\u00a0Tel Aviv Ben Gurion\u00a0(Israel),\u00a0Malabo\u00a0(Equatorial Guinea), and\u00a0Kinshasa N’Djili\u00a0(DRC) are reportedly planned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
