{"id":5326,"date":"2023-04-19T09:04:36","date_gmt":"2023-04-19T09:04:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aviation-news.info\/?p=5326"},"modified":"2023-04-19T09:04:36","modified_gmt":"2023-04-19T09:04:36","slug":"united-to-launch-largest-south-pacific-expansion-in-aviation-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviation-news.info\/?p=5326","title":{"rendered":"United to launch largest South Pacific expansion in aviation history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a milestone event US carrier United Airlines has just announced the largest South Pacific network expansion ever to and from the continental United States.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-a-historic-first\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">A historic first<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<p>The historic expansion plan will include the first non-stop flight between\u00a0San Francisco\u00a0and\u00a0Christchurch on\u00a0New Zealand\u2019s South Island, which is\u00a0set to commence on\u00a0December 1.<\/p>\n<p>United will effectively become the only carrier to directly connect the U.S. and the South Island of\u00a0New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aviationsourcenews.com\/?s=united+airlines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">carrier<\/a>\u00a0is currently operating 66 flights between the US and\u00a0Australia\/New Zealand\u00a0every week. The proposed expansion will see United operate nearly 40% more flights from the U.S. to\u00a0Australia\u00a0and\u00a0New Zealand\u00a0next northern winter versus the same period last year.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-service-expansion-australia-and-new-zealand\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Service expansion Australia and New Zealand<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<p>The carrier will add new direct flights from\u00a0Los Angeles\u00a0to\u00a0Brisbane, Queensland\u00a0and\u00a0Auckland\u00a0on New Zealand\u2019s North Island.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time it will increase services to the Australian region from its\u00a0San Francisco\u00a0hub with daily flights to\u00a0Brisbane, twice daily flights to\u00a0Sydney\u00a0and flying larger aircraft to\u00a0Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>And thanks to United\u2019s relationships with Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia, travelers can enjoy easy one-stop connections from these cities to more than 50 destinations in the region.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-australia-and-new-zealand-presence\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Australia and New Zealand presence<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<p>As it stands, United already flies to more destinations in\u00a0Australia\u00a0and\u00a0New Zealand\u00a0than all other U.S. carriers combined.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond that, the US carrier will operate more flights and serve more destinations in the region from the U.S. than any other carrier in the world.<\/p>\n<p>With the Australia New Zealand region approaching the peak southern winter season, the carrier has now placed these new services on sale to the travelling public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis past winter, United enhanced our network and became the largest carrier to the South Pacific region. Now, this upcoming winter, we will expand even further,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur strong partnerships with Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia provide unparalleled connectivity, and with our historic expansion across five destinations in\u00a0New Zealand\u00a0and\u00a0Australia, United is the clear choice for customers\u2019 travel to the region.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-a-brief-outline-of-new-services\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">A brief outline of new services<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<p>Here is a brief outline of the key South Pacific service expansions announced by United Airlines. It should be noted that the new services are subject to governmental approval.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-san-francisco-christchurch-nz\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">San Francisco\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Christchurch, NZ<\/h3>\n<p>Starting\u00a0December 1, United will be the only airline to offer direct flights between the U.S. and\u00a0New Zealand\u2019s\u00a0South Island, with the first direct\u00a0San Francisco-Christchurch\u00a0service. United will fly this route three times weekly on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-los-angeles-auckland\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Los Angeles\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Auckland<\/h3>\n<p>From the coming northern hemisphere winter United will add four weekly flights from\u00a0Los Angeles to its existing services from San Francisco. The airline will fly the new\u00a0Los Angeles-Auckland\u00a0route on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, starting\u00a0October 28.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-los-angeles-brisbane\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Los Angeles\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Brisbane<\/h3>\n<p>United is presently the only airline to offer direct flights between\u00a0Brisbane\u00a0and\u00a0San Francisco. On\u00a0November 29, it will supplement this service with the addition of three weekly Los Angles-Brisbane flights on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.<\/p>\n<p>It will become the largest carrier operating between the U.S. and\u00a0Brisbane.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-additional-flights-to-sydney-and-brisbane\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional Flights to\u00a0Sydney\u00a0and\u00a0Brisbane<\/h3>\n<p>this will as the inauguration of new services listed above, United will also increase its flights from\u00a0San Francisco\u00a0to\u00a0Brisbane\u00a0and\u00a0Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>Starting\u00a0October 28, United will offer daily flights between\u00a0San Francisco\u00a0and\u00a0Brisbane\u00a0on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.<\/p>\n<p>The airline will also fly twice daily between\u00a0San Francisco\u00a0and\u00a0Sydney\u00a0on Boeing 777-300ERs starting\u00a0October 28, offering more flights to\u00a0Sydney\u00a0from the U.S. than any other carrier.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-greater-seat-capacity-to-melbourne\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Greater seat capacity to Melbourne<\/h3>\n<p>Augmenting its current services to Melbourne, Victoria, the airline will deploy its largest aircraft on the existing San Francisco to Melbourne route.<\/p>\n<p>Commencing October 28, United will operate its Boeing 300ER aircraft on the Australian route; effectively increasing its seat capacity by 100 seats per flight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a milestone event US carrier United Airlines has just announced the largest South Pacific network expansion ever to and from the continental United States.
