Nainital, Mussoorie, Shimla, Lonavala, and Ooty emerged as the top mountain destinations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beach destinations\u00a0<\/strong>followed next with a\u00a0<strong>112% uptick<\/strong>. Goa and Pondicherry were the top choices, followed by destinations like Digha, Alibaug and Kollam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spiritual destinations\u00a0<\/strong>also gained traction, with Varanasi, Puri, Tirupati, Amritsar and Haridwar as favorites.\u00a0<strong>Goa\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Manali\u00a0<\/strong>occupied the top beach and hill vacation spots respectively, according to\u00a0<strong>Oyo<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/skift.com\/2023\/05\/21\/india-daily-oyo-ranks-goa-and-manali-as-top-summer-destinations\/\"><strong>Summer Vacation Index 2023<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-indigo-to-start-delhi-baku-direct-from-august-11\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>IndiGo to Start Delhi-Baku Direct From August 11<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Budget carrier\u00a0<strong>IndiGo\u00a0<\/strong>is set to introduce direct flights between\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.goindigo.in\/content\/dam\/goindigo\/investor-relations\/press-releases\/2023\/230705_IndiGo-sets-course-for-Azerbaijan-Unveils-new-connections-between-Delhi-and-Baku.pdf\"><strong>Delhi\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Baku<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in Azerbaijan, starting\u00a0<strong>August 11<\/strong>. The airline will operate a\u00a0<strong>four-times-weekly\u00a0<\/strong>service between the two cities. IndiGo will also commence\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/skift.com\/2023\/06\/27\/india-daily-akasa-air-offers-hefty-pay-raises-to-pilots\/\">direct flights from Mumbai<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>Nairobi\u00a0<\/strong>in Kenya and\u00a0<strong>Jakarta\u00a0<\/strong>in Indonesia, from August 5 and August 7, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Early this month, in an\u00a0exclusive interview with Skift, IndiGo CEO\u00a0<strong>Pieter Elbers\u00a0<\/strong>announced the airline\u2019s plans to launch air services to\u00a0<strong>Nairobi<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jakarta\u00a0<\/strong>and some\u00a0<strong>Central Asian countries\u00a0<\/strong>as part of its\u00a0<strong>international expansion\u00a0<\/strong>plans. IndiGo also received aviation regulator\u00a0<strong>Directorate General of Civil Aviation\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong>nod to start operations between\u00a0<strong>Delhi and Tbilisi<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in Georgia from\u00a0<strong>August 7<\/strong>. Additionally, the airline has announced the launch of\u00a0<strong>three new flights\u00a0<\/strong>to Rajkot, Jodhpur and Vadodara, from Pune.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-makemytrip-to-add-to-inventory-of-homestays-ahead-of-cricket-season\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>MakeMyTrip to Add to Inventory of Homestays Ahead of Cricket Season<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Online travel company\u00a0<strong>MakeMyTrip\u00a0<\/strong>plans to increase the inventory of\u00a0<strong>homestay properties\u00a0<\/strong>across\u00a0<strong>select metros\u00a0<\/strong>during the\u00a0<strong>cricket season\u00a0<\/strong>starting October. This year India will be hosting the\u00a0<strong>International Cricket Council World Cup\u00a0<\/strong>from\u00a0<strong>October 5 to November 19\u00a0<\/strong>across 10 venues in Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistorically, our efforts to increase penetration have been focused on leisure markets, but now we are also focusing on business cities. The scalable technologies will eventually be deployed in an additional 40 airports within the next seven years, with an estimated\u00a0<strong>500 million passengers\u00a0<\/strong>expected to benefit from these advancements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe solutions will give passengers more control over their journey, offering a low-touch, efficient check-in, bag drop and collection process through assisted and self-service mechanisms. The opening of the new routes is a part of the airline\u2019s ambitious plan to expand its direct route network.
