{"id":8147,"date":"2023-08-31T09:34:01","date_gmt":"2023-08-31T09:34:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aviation-news.info\/?p=8147"},"modified":"2023-08-31T09:34:01","modified_gmt":"2023-08-31T09:34:01","slug":"new-thai-prime-minister-set-to-aid-thai-aviation-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviation-news.info\/?p=8147","title":{"rendered":"New Thai Prime Minister Set to Aid Thai Aviation Industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aviation news international &#8211; Thailand\u2019s new leader Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin scheduled a round table meeting on the 28th of August with Airports of Thailand Plc (AOTm) and the Thai Airline Association.<\/p>\n<p>The Association represents the carriers Nok Air,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aviationsourcenews.com\/?s=Bangkok+Airways\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bangkok Airways<\/a>, Thai VietJet, Thai Airways &amp; Thai Smile, Thai Lion Air, Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsia X.<\/p>\n<p>This meeting, held at at Phue Thai Party\u2019s headquarters in downtown Bangkok, aimed to address the need for more air connectivity to certain Thai secondary cities and regional hot spots such as Chiang Mai or Phuket.<\/p>\n<p>The Thai aviation industry issue of high airfares was also tabled at the meeting, as reported by news source\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationthailand.com\/business\/corporate\/40030566\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Nation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-thai-aviation-amp-focus-on-tourism\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thai Aviation &amp; Focus on Tourism<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<p>The new government also discussed the challenges in accommodating the high season, which attracts many tourists to the country.<\/p>\n<p>Much of the inbound tourism comes from China, Russia, India and followed by Europe.\u00a0All airports managed by AOT suffer a lack of capacity and personnel for the upcoming high season.<\/p>\n<p>According to The Nation, the Thai Prime Minister acknowledged AOT\u2019s previously presented solution for resolving their airport congestion. The Prime Minister pledged to resolve these issues in November, just in time to accommodate beach-goers or tourists coming to the Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>The airport group has advised Srettha Thavisin to fast-track management measures to ease congestion at Bangkok Airports Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang Airports.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-new-airports-touted-in-phuket\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Airports Touted in Phuket<\/h2>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<p>Phuket Airport, arguably one of the country\u2019s most important airports outside of Bangkok would be expanded to 20 million passengers per annum from 12 million per annum according to nationthailand.com.
