Air aviation news – DHL Air<\/a>\u00a0(D0,\u00a0East Midlands<\/a>) will add its first\u00a0Airbus<\/a>\u00a0aircraft, namely five converted\u00a0A330-200(P2F)<\/a>s on lease from CaixaBank. The deal marks the entry of the Valencian financial institution into the aircraft dry leasing market.<\/p>\n

Between July 2022 and May 2023, the British carrier, owned by\u00a0DHL Express<\/a>, signed lease contracts for the five aircraft, M-WPCW (msn 1157), M-TGKG (msn 1544), M-PVDM (msn 1374), M-MPSD (msn 1408), and M-SVGS (msn 1338), according to UK Companies House records. The first two are ex-Singapore Airlines<\/a>\u00a0(SQ,\u00a0Singapore Changi<\/a>) stock, while the other three were previously operated by\u00a0Thai Airways International<\/a>\u00a0(TG,\u00a0Bangkok Suvarnabhumi<\/a>). All five aircraft are currently under conversion at\u00a0Dresden<\/a>, the\u00a0ch-aviation fleets advanced<\/a>\u00a0module shows.<\/p>\n

The airline did not disclose any delivery dates.<\/p>\n

DHL Air currently operates five\u00a0B757-200(SF)<\/a>s, four\u00a0B767-300ER(BCF)<\/a>s, two\u00a0B767-300ER(BDSF)<\/a>s, four\u00a0B767-300F<\/a>s, and five\u00a0B777-200F<\/a>s. Thai Airways mulls 90-strong aircraft order – report<\/a><\/h3>\n

13.09.2023 – 03:11 UTC<\/span>Thai Airways International<\/a>\u00a0(TG,\u00a0Bangkok Suvarnabhumi<\/a>) is in talks with the two big aircraft manufacturers about an order for as many as 95 aircraft, according to a Reuters report. Talks, reportedly still in a \u201cvery early stage,\u201d concern a potential order for 15 narrowbody aircraft and 80 widebodies.<\/p>\n

The majority-state-owned airline, which continues to work its way through a court-supervised restructuring program to tackle THB400 billion baht (USD11.3 billion) worth of accrued debt, had previously said it wanted to\u00a0sign an order<\/a>\u00a0for an additional 30 aircraft by the end of 2023. This latest report triples that number.<\/p>\n

Having posted losses for a decade, Thai Airways is now profitable but handicapped by a shortage of aircraft, which it is attempting to address in the short term through leasing arrangements. Thai’s fleet currently comprises five former\u00a0Thai Smile<\/a>\u00a0A320-200<\/a>s, three\u00a0A330-300<\/a>s, fourteen\u00a0A350-900<\/a>s, six\u00a0B777-200ER<\/a>s, seventeen\u00a0B777-300ER<\/a>s, six\u00a0B787-8<\/a>s, and two\u00a0B787-9<\/a>s.
