The number of countries where events were held grew to 31 countries this year versus 19 countries last year. The number of events also increased to 168 events compared with over 120 last year.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7084283 entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/generalaviationnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/WAI23-WAI-Alberta-Rocky-Mountain-High-Chapter-at-Red-Deer-Regional-Airport-Canada.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/generalaviationnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/WAI23-WAI-Alberta-Rocky-Mountain-High-Chapter-at-Red-Deer-Regional-Airport-Canada.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Girls at the WAI Alberta Rocky Mountain High Chapter at\u00a0Red Deer Regional Airport, Canada<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Girls in Aviation Day events took place at airports, FBOs, museums, and hangars across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Girls were introduced to the career and lifestyle possibilities in aviation and aerospace by meeting female role models, listening to career panels, and exploring airplanes and airports.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, girls participated in a wide array of hands-on, educational activities ranging from sectional chart treasure hunts, first flights on simulators, learning about aircraft engines, avionics, and exploring weather systems and space.<\/p>\n<p><center><\/p>\n<div id=\"avp_zid_34_or_33_1\"><\/div>\n<p><\/center><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7084284 entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/generalaviationnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/WAI23-WAI-Northern-Planes-Chapter-at-Fargo-Air-Museum-ND.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/generalaviationnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/WAI23-WAI-Northern-Planes-Chapter-at-Fargo-Air-Museum-ND.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Girls at the WAI Northern Planes Chapter at\u00a0the Fargo Air Museum in North Dakota.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cOur Girls in Aviation Day events are designed to spark girls\u2019 interest in aviation and aerospace while learning science, technology, engineering, and math subjects in an interactive, fun format,\u201d says WAI Interim CEO Stephanie Kenyon. \u201cWorking together with our industry partners, donors, and sponsors, we are creating a pipeline of talented women who will one day lead aviation and aerospace into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Girls in Aviation Day is part of an international youth STEM education program designed by WAI to inspire girls to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace. The program, called Aviation for Girls, includes the GIAD events, as well as free Junior memberships in WAI for girls ages eight to 18, Aviation for Girls magazine, and an app featuring monthly webinars, aviation STEM education activities, videos of female aviators highlighting various careers and aviation books, virtual tours of museums, and airports, information about WAI scholarships, and a timeline of WAI Pioneer Hall of Fame inductees.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7084285 entered lazyloaded\" src=\"https:\/\/generalaviationnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/WAI23-WAI-Equus-Flight-Academy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1006\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/generalaviationnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/WAI23-WAI-Equus-Flight-Academy.jpg\" data-ll-status=\"loaded\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The event at Equus Flight Academy in Indiana.
